Titans add Rath to squad

Rotherham Titans are delighted to announce Ben Rath has been added to the squad.

Twenty years-old full back Ben Rath joins from National League One side Fylde and will link up with his new team mates on Monday.

Ormskirk-born Rath stands at 6' 2" and has represented Lancashire U16, U20s, Seniors, North U20's and England Counties U20's and considers his best rugby moment to date as scoring the winner for Lancashire seniors at Twickenham in front of 20,000 spectators.

Rath is no stranger to the Titans as he made an appearance in pre-season for them this year against Hull Ionians in August; catching the eye as he scored two tries and four conversions in the 75-0 rout.

Titans Lee Blackett commenting on Rath’s arrival said, “I’m pleased that Ben is joining up with us, he’s a young guy who’s got bags of potential and if he works hard and applies himself he can go a long way in the game. His ability to change direction at high speed is very impressive and as a result he’s capable of causing destruction in opposition defences.”

Rath himself is thrilled at the opportunity to be involved with the Titans and said, “I am delighted to have joined Rotherham Titans and to be given the chance to play full time rugby; it’s an ambition that I’ve had from a very young age. Now I'm here I intend to work very hard and improve all of my skills and my fitness levels.

“As hard as it’s been having a full time job and working hard to get myself into this situation, the hard work only starts here and now. It's a big step up, but it’s a step I feel ready to take and I will be working hard so when the opportunity arises I will be ready to grab it both hands.

“I want to continue to improve and to be able to play in the top tier of English rugby and to continue to make my parents, friends and family proud.

“I know a few people who have previously been involved at Rotherham and have been told it is a great club to be a part of, with a loud fan base on match days. I am looking forward very much to getting stuck in and working with Lee Blackett and the rest of the lads.”
