Ali Birch extends his stay at Clifton Lane
Rotherham Titans are delighted to confirm, as announced on Titan Tuesday, Ali Birch has penned a deal which will see him remain at Clifton Lane until the summer of 2015.
The 25 years-old flanker, in his first season at Clifton Lane has been a revelation, with a mid-season report highlighting him from the player’s perspective, as the Titans player of the season.
The former Dungannon and Ulster Rugby man, who was born in Newry, Northern Ireland, has to date made 21 appearances for the Titans, scoring 3 tries along the way.
Head Coach Lee Blackett is thrilled with the news that Birch will stay on at Clifton Lane, “Ali has been one of our most consistent performers all year. His contribution to the group is immense, he does so much unseen work for us on match day and maybe sometimes he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. I am totally delighted that we’ll have the opportunity to work together again next term.”
Birch, a softly spoken Irishman, commenting on his deal explained, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Rotherham and I’m delighted that I’ll be here again next season. The fans are fantastic and they’ve really welcomed me into the Titans family. The shed on match days is also unbelievable and to get the chance to play in front of them again next season is something I’m really looking forward to.”
