ROTHERHAM RUGBY READERS: INSPIRATION, RESPECT AND SUCCESS IN ACTION AT KELFORD

Rotherham Titans Community Foundation and Kelford School have just completed an inspirational ground-breaking programme Rotherham Rugby Readers.

Rotherham Rugby Readers utilises the players from Rotherham Titans to raise the sights of young people through reading support and mentoring. Kelford School is a school for children and young people with severe learning difficulties. RRR is funded by The Big Lottery which has also supported such work at Clifton School.

Semisi Taulava, who has championed the project at Kelford School, celebrated the end of the project with the young people at Kelford, before departing for his new club Worcester. Semi said “I have loved coming to Kelford because the young people here are a joy to work with. It is my job to help them achieve their full potential and inspire them to think more positively and act more boldly in their lives.”

Nick Whittaker Head at Kelford School said “Semisi has been a tremendous asset to the School. Semisi has always seen the potential in our young people, never the barriers nor obstacles and never accepted any reason for not doing things. He is a winner and he has made all our young people think and act like winners”

Nick Cragg Chair of the Titans Community Foundation said “Our rugby club is rooted in our local community. It is based on the values of inspiration, respect and success and because we hold the right values we can make a real difference to people’s lives. It has been a privilege to work with Kelford and I am very proud of Semisi and the work he has undertaken at Kelford.”

Within the Gallery section of this website, there are a series of photographs of Semisi Taulava presenting the young people of Kelford with their awards. The photos can be found under the heading, “Kelford School Awards.”
