Rotherham Phoenix kick off their Yorkshire 3 league campaign tomorrow with former fans favourite Simon Bunting debuting for the Phoenix.

Newly promoted Leeds Medics and Dentists are the opposition, for the fixture that takes place on Herringthorpe, kick-off 3pm.

With no Titans game tomorrow, the Phoenix encounter is an ideal opportunity for Rotherham supporters to get their rugby fix. The support given to Phoenix is always appreciated by the players and therefore if you are able, please come along and get behind the boys as they strive to bring glory to Rotherham Rugby Club.

During the summer ambitious Phoenix added a number of new recruits to their squad, as they attempt to secure a top two finish, which would see them rise into Yorkshire 2. In addition to Simon Bunting, full back Anthony Barrett has joined from Wath and former clubman Mick Ward returns from Sheffield Tigers.

Looking ahead to the new season Phoenix Head Coach Dave Trueman remarked, “Pre-season has gone very well for us and we have won both of our warm-up games. Our ambition is to achieve promotion this year and we felt in order to give ourselves a chance of that, we needed to bring in one or two new faces.

“Last year up to Christmas we were in a great league position, but the lack of depth within the squad proved costly and that’s why we’ve added to the squad this time around.

“Tomorrow’s opponents Leeds Medics and Dentists are a bit of an unknown quantity for us, as they are new to the division. Therefore we need to make sure we have prepared well and we are on the ball right from the off.”
