Phoenix back to winning ways
Rotherham Phoenix put up an impressive display at Clifton Lane as they defeated Baildon 15-7 in their Yorkshire 3 clash on Saturday afternoon.
The victory, their second in three outings, sees the Phoenix rise to eighth in the table just 5 points off top spot. Phoenix’s impressive win over fancied Baildon was based around a dominant set piece. The scrum in particular provided a solid base and a sturdy platform which enabled the Rotherham side to muster much of their fine work.
Phoenix solid defence throughout limited Baildon’s scoring opportunities to the bare minimum and it took an individual error to allow the visitors to score their only try of the match. Phoenix’s three tries came courtesy of winger John Saddington, hooker Scott Crookes and flanker Tom Coy.
Next up for Rotherham Phoenix is a trip to Bramley Phoenix next Saturday.
Rotherham Phoenix: Bunting, Crookes, Robinson, Palethorpe, Mallender, Pitcher, Coy, White (C), Parker, Jenkinson, Saddington, Jarvis, Allott, Swift, Barrett.
Replacements: Scothern, Banks, Johnson, Dynan.
