Special Family & Forces Day at The Lane

Rotherham Rugby Club are planning a special day for all the family when the Titans entertain Doncaster Knights at Clifton Lane on Saturday 3rd November.

The visit of Doncaster is Rotherham Titans first match in the newly formed Yorkshire Regimental Trophy and as such there will be a huge armed forces presence on the day, with various displays and activities available.

The club can confirm that The Royal British Legion will be present. The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading Service charity. They provide practical care, advice and support to serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans of all ages and their families.

The support The Royal British Legion offers is vast and varied and the following is just some aspects of their important and crucial work: “Whether adapting a home to make it suitable for a disabled young soldier, providing a free dedicated handyperson service for those unable to carry out small repairs and minor alterations in their homes or providing support such as pension advice or bereavement counselling - our welfare work is a lifeline for thousands of serving and ex-Service people and their families.”

All of their fine work could not be possible if it was not for the generous support of the British people. Every donation and every gift really does make a difference and at the Doncaster game, in addition to the opportunity for supporters to collect their poppy, there will be a bucket collection.

Rotherham Rugby Club is proud to have The Royal British Legion in attendance for this special day and hopes its supporters recognise and appreciates the fantastic work done by this remarkable charity, by giving what they can to ensure this important work continues.

The Royal British Legion will also be in Morrisons Supermarket (Catcliffe) from Saturday 27 October and the club aims to have a couple of Titans players there at some point next week (Details to follow).

In addition, at the Doncaster match, the Army will be bringing along two armoured vehicles and a camouflage tent which will contain a number of displays.

The Club are also in current discussions with other military organisations who wish to be part of this special event and further announcements will be made on this website in the next few days.

Rotherham Rugby Club is both proud and delighted to be able to create an environment where families can come along and enjoy a true family-fun day out and in the process, help the brave service men and women who devote their lives in the service of our country. The courage, commitment and sacrifices these service personnel display should be celebrated and recognised and Rotherham Rugby Club is delighted to play their small part in this way.
