Doncaster Knights Charity Day plans against Rotherham Titans

As the big South Yorkshire derby against Doncaster Knights looms on the horizon, The Knights are planning a very exciting day of activities and have sent the message below for all Titans supporters.

The team at Castle Park are pleased to reveal some very exciting plans to take place next month when the Knights take on Rotherham Titans in what will be the Knights final match in this year's Yorkshire Regiment Trophy and our 2013 Charity Day on Saturday March 9th.

No game between the Knights and the Titans needs any further build up, as the two sides lock horns for local bragging rights. Last year saw a record breaking crowd of 4,021 enjoy the tightest of encounters and a superb day out for all and it is hoped this year will be equally, if not more successful with much more pre match entertainment on offer.

If the prospect of one of the county’s fiercest derbies isn't enough to entice you down to Castle Park then, you must be mad, but the day will be made even more special as Castle Park puts on a Military spectacle in aid of two fantastic charities. Our 2013 Charity Day will raise funds jointly for Help for Heroes and The Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund.

Each Charity undertakes truly fantastic work and we hope you share the view that they both deserve great recognition and fundraising, as well as having strong ties with Yorkshire Rugby Union. The Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund was set up following the deaths of six soldiers from the 3rd Battalion with the intention of raising funds for the benefit and welfare of Officers and Soldiers of The Yorkshire Regiment - and their families.

Help for Heroes provides direct, practical support to wounded, injured and sick service personnel, veterans and their families. This is provided through grants to individuals and other service charities, capital build projects and support for life at four recovery centres across the UK, but direct fundraising plays the biggest part in the success.

We are delighted to be able to collaborate with such great causes and have an action packed day in store for all who attend, not only the pivotal Championship clash, but also a whole host of activities including; an inflatable obstacle course, paintball range, military vehicles, recruitment stands, band, hog roast, and much, much more.

All the activities will be spread out across our fantastic Castle Park stadia facilities, but make sure you visit our Military Village on the Mini Juniors pitches for a truly unforgettable experience for all the family.

In addition the 3rd Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment will be travelling from Warminster to play a Doncaster select amateur side on Pitch 3 at Castle Park in the morning of the game for a full day’s rugby entertainment.

There will of course be extra catering and bar arrangements on offer so no one will go hungry or thirsty for this one-off special event.

Make sure you book your tickets early and show your support for both two fantastic charities and Doncaster Knights in their quest to win county bragging rights.

Saturday March 9th is a date not to be missed! Tickets are available from reception by calling 01302 831388 or through the website at www.drfc.co.uk  so book early and enjoy a fantastic day out in aid of a fantastic cause.
