Gill pens new deal with the Titans
Rotherham Titans are delighted to announce that utility back Joel Gill has agreed terms that will see him remain at Clifton Lane until the summer of 2014.
Born in Harrogate, the 22 years-old former Otley and Wharfedale powerhouse has impressed the Titans coaching staff in his first season at Clifton Lane. Having already made 12 appearances for the club this term; Joel’s strength, speed, passing and an appetite for the physical side of the game, has seen him become an important member of the Titans set-up.
Gill, who is eager to secure both a regular starting berth for the club and to make his mark in the Championship, said of his contract extension, “I’m absolutely delighted to have re-signed for the Titans. I feel things have gone really well for me at Clifton Lane so far and I’m looking forward to being here next season, where my aim will be to try and secure a regular starting position and make a mark in the Championship.”
Equally thrilled with Gill’s commitment to the club is Head Coach Alex Codling, who added, “I’m delighted that Joel has agreed to stay on for next season. Joel’s one of those players that has the ability to play in a number of positions and when he has done that for us he’s always done a great job. Often when you see players move around in positions they don’t always play that well, but Joel’s been fantastic.
“For next season Joel wants to focus on one position and Lee and myself are very happy with that and we are looking forward to seeing him develop even further next term.
“Off the field Joel is a massive team man and that’s so important to any successful side. On the field, he’s probably got the best footwork in the team both in attack and as an outstanding defender. His dynamism and physicality is right up there with anyone in our squad and I’m delighted we’ll be working with him again next season.”
