Rotherham Titans today announce that Head Coach Alex Codling will leave the club at the end of the current Championship campaign for personal reasons.

Alex will continue to lead the squad, assist in the re-building for next season and continue the excellent work he has undertaken at the club both on and off the field.

Chairman Nick Cragg said “We certainly believe that we appointed the right man in Alex Codling. Alex came to the club with great aspirations founded on a very solid track record both as a player and as a coach and we have really benefited from that experience and expertise. We have played some open attractive rugby during his tenure at the club and the off-the-field coaching, strength and conditioning and nutrition regimes he has implemented will be a sound legacy. We are very disappointed for the club and for Alex that he is unable to fulfil his contract with us for personal reasons”.

Titans Director of Rugby, Martin Jenkinson added, “Alex Codling has been a breath of fresh air.

“In the short time he has been here, he has taken our playing set-up to a completely new level and we are already seeing the benefits.

“It is a great shame that the logistics involved mean that Alex is unable to continue travelling.

“We as a club intend to build on the foundations that Alex has in a short time put down.

“We wish Alex all the best in the future and his values mean that wherever his career goes he will be successful and he carries our full endorsement.”

Head Coach Alex Codling said “I made the right decision to come to Rotherham and I believe I have made a significant difference to the club. I will give 100% to the players and to the club between now and the end of the season as there is still much to do to put Titans in the best position possible to approach the 2013/14 Season. It is with real regret that I have resigned but sometimes things just do not work out no matter how much you wish them to do so”
